Querétaro is centrally located in Mexico, with direct flights to many other popular destinations within the country. If you’re looking to extend your stay, either before or after our wedding, here are some recommendations for other places you might want to visit:

NOTE: When planning your stay, please consider that we will be hosting an optional, self-pay welcome dinner on Dec. 11, 2026 (the evening before our wedding). We are also considering organizing an optional, self-pay group outing the day following the wedding (Dec. 13, 2026), depending on interest and availability. More information will be communicated in the official invitation.

Unforgettable Road Trips (Under 4 Hours)

  • San Miguel de Allende (Guanajuato)

    • Why visit: World-famous, cobblestoned colonial city known for its vibrant arts scene, stunning rooftop restaurants, and the iconic pink-towered Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel.

    • Driving duration: About 1 hour.

    • Flight duration: N/A (driving or hiring a private shuttle is your best bet).

    • Special notes: It is incredibly easy and inexpensive to take a luxury bus (like Primera Plus) or an Uber directly from Querétaro, making it perfect if you don't want to rent a car.

  • Tequisquiapan & Bernal (Querétaro)

    • Why visit: This region offers a relaxing escape centered around Mexico’s second-largest wine country and the breathtaking Peña de Bernal, one of the tallest monolithic rocks in the world.

    • Driving duration: 45 minutes to 1 hour.

    • Flight duration: N/A.

  • Mexico City (CDMX)

    • Why visit: As a massive global cultural hub, it features world-class museums (like the Frida Kahlo Museum and Anthropology Museum), historic architecture, and an unparalleled culinary scene.

    • Driving duration: 2.5 to 3.5 hours, heavily depending on traffic entering the capital.

    • Flight duration: Around 1 hour (via Aeroméxico), though driving or taking a luxury bus is often preferred to avoid airport wait times.

    • Special notes: Traffic in Mexico City can be intense; look into the city's Hoy No Circula program if you choose to rent and drive a car, as certain license plates are restricted on specific days.

  • Guadalajara (Jalisco)

    • Why visit: As Mexico's second-largest city, it is the birthplace of mariachi music and tequila, offering a rich cultural experience alongside historic architecture, the trendy Americana neighborhood, and easy day trips to the town of Tequila itself.

    • Driving duration: About 4 hours.

    • Flight duration: Around 1 hour and 10 minutes via direct flights (typically operated by Volaris).

    • Special notes: Driving is incredibly straightforward from Querétaro, making it a highly reasonable road trip. If you decide to visit the nearby town of Tequila, you can even take the popular "Jose Cuervo Express" luxury train from Guadalajara for a highly memorable day trip.

  • Puerto Vallarta (Jalisco)

    • Why visit: Ideal if you’re seeking a coastal escape, Puerta Vallarta blends old-school Mexican charm, a beautiful boardwalk (Malecón), and lively nightlife against a backdrop of mountains and the Pacific Ocean.
